Lies, damn lies and statistics

Well, the end of season results are in and can be found in the club documents section - very interesting reading they make. We just failed to reach a 50/50 record but can blame the numpty part time fixture secretary (and tardy loamer and stats provider) for poor negotiation in relation to team strength on our tour for this.

Our very own Freddie, fresh from this name revelation at his fantastic wedding (congratulations to both John and Sarah by the way) tops the batting averages after a season where he (inexplicably) kept on scoring runs and did so at a good rate so well done Finchy – I am stopping this now as I just can’t bring myself to congratulate The Annoyer anymore. Rajiv came in second after some magnificent performances in adversity and once again was the only man to score over 500 runs in the season (can’t add up a curry bill though).

Onto the chuckers - Rumours of his passing have been much exaggerated it would seem as Robin kept his younger rivals at bay to top the bowling averages. The other stand out performance being that of Lewis, whose miserly and lively spells at the beginning of the innings were consistently of the highest standard that I can remember at JAVS.

Other notable stats worth mentioning are, in no particular order; Tim Sonnex (3rd in both batting and bowling – how did that happen?), Charlie Yolland (most catches. Oh yeah and incidentally had the worst bowling economy rate, somehow managing to beat his Step-Dad, Stevo, in this fiercely contested battle of inadequacy), Murphy’s 17 sixes, Raji’s 368 runs in boundaries, Twellsy’s ducks, Bubba’s Golden Ducks, Andy Parsons’ average of 11 and too many others to mention - I would hate to steal some of the Chairman’s end of season speech.

A great season again, thanks to all who play and to all that help during the season to make it all possible.

Here’s to next year………….
